1. Volkswagen Wolfsburg Plant
Location: Wolfsburg, Germany
Area: 6,500,000 square meters
Volkswagen’s plant in Wolfsburg is the world’s largest car manufacturing plant in existence today. The facility can produce at least 3,800 cars a day, which gives it an estimated total of 815,000 units per year.
2. Hyundai Motor Company Ulsan Factory
Location: Ulsan, South Korea
Area: 5,050,000 square meters
The car factory opened in 1968 and has since grown to about 34,000 employees to date. It has five buildings in its complex and can produce a vehicle every 12 seconds.
It has its own cargo ship pier and sewage treatment plant. A liquid ring vacuum pump is used to help run the sewage treatment plant more efficiently, which helps improve the living environment, especially for the dormitory found onsite.
3. Tesla Factory
Location: Fremont, California, U.S.A.
Area: 510,966 square meters
The site is Tesla Motors’ main production facility for its electric cars. It utilizes about 160 specialist robots, including ten of the world’s largest. It churns out around 1,000 pre-ordered units in a week.
While it is Tesla’s largest factory today, the company broke ground on its bigger site in Nevada. The Tesla Gigafactory, which has an area of 1,207,740 square meters, is set to be completed within this year.
4. Boeing Factory
Location: Everett, Washington, U.S.A.
Area: 398,000 square meters

The Chrysler-owned plant located in Belvidere was built in 1965. Brands such as the Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot, and Dodge Dart are all assembled in this property by 780 robots. Ever since the end of the 1993 model, it has already produced about 5.9 million cars and shows no signs of stopping any time soon.
6. Jean-Luc Legardére Plant
Location: Toulouse-Blagnac, France
Area: 122,500 square meters
The France-based airline manufacturing plant is responsible for assembling the famous Airbus A380 which can seat 800 people.
It has one hall that is 250 meters long, 115 meters wide, and 46 meters high along with six other halls that are 100 meters long and 100 meters wide. The facility has its own runways, houses several restaurants and fluid and energy production plants.
7. Lauma Fabrics
Location: Liepaja, Latvia
Area: 115,645 square meters
Out of all the plants in this list, the Latvian manufacturing plant is different from all the others as it produces raw materials and lace used for making lingerie. However, that doesn’t take away the fact that it still is one of the world’s largest manufacturing plants with a length of 225 meters and a width of 505 meters.
